Wilkinsburg's high school football team made headlines this season for having just 13 players.
Now the fallen powerhouse has an NFL star on its side.
Pittsburgh Steelers safety Will Allen says he's holding a banquet Dec. 2 to celebrate the undermanned squad.
Wilkinsburg finished 1-8, but Allen says he's impressed with the players' perseverance and resilience playing both sides of the ball with little rest.
The Tigers won the first three Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League championships in 1914, 1915, 1916. They added titles in 1922 and 1957, but haven't won a championship since.
Dwindling interest shrunk the roster and losing seasons piled up.
That could change soon. The school is in talks to allow students from a local Christian school to supplement its roster starting next season.
