A father was sentenced to decades in prison in the starvation death of his disabled 9-year-old son last year.
Thirty-nine-year-old Jarrod Tutko Sr. was sentenced Wednesday in Dauphin County Court to 21 to 42 years in prison. His wife, 40-year-old Kimberly Tutko, was to be sentenced later.
Both pleaded guilty to third-degree murder and child endangerment in the death of Jarrod Tutko Jr., whose decomposing body was found in August 2014 in the family's Harrisburg home. The man also pleaded guilty to concealing the death.
Authorities said the boy, who had a genetic disorder with autism-like symptoms, weighed less than 17 pounds at the time of his death.
The parents also pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and child endangerment related to their 10-year-old disabled daughter.
