Man Dies After Being Stabbed During Apparent Robbery in West Philadelphia

A man died early Labor Day morning after police say someone stabbed him during an apparent robbery on a West Philadelphia street.

Police said responding officers found the 30-year-old victim unresponsive lying on the sidewalk near the intersection of Belmont and Westminster avenues, in the city's Belmont neighborhood. Paramedics pronounced the man dead there at 1:25 a.m.

Police said the apparent motive appeared to be robbery based on their initial investigation, but detectives are continuing to probe the killing. The victim suffered several stab wounds, according to police. There were no witnesses as of early Monday morning.

Police did not release the victim's name.
