Caught on Tape: Serial Groper?

A man is allegedly groping women in the Spring Garden section of Philadelphia.

A recent attack happened Thursday morning on the 600 block of N 15th Street and this time it was caught on tape, according to Philadelphia Police.

In the video the man can be seen walking in the area. Around 10 a.m. a woman in the area appears to bend over to tie her shoe -- that is when the man darts across the street, gropes her buttocks and runs off.

Five minutes later the same man allegedly grabbed a woman at 15th and Brandywine Streets, police said.

Both women called 9-1-1 almost immediately but the guy was gone by the time police arrived.

“We believe this male knows the area -- he knows the streets,” said Lt. Ray Evers.

Both of Thursday’s victims gave similar descriptions of the attacker. He described as a thin black male between 18 to 25 years old with a light complexion who that wearing a red plaid shirt, green down vest and blue jeans.

The victims in the most recent attacks gave accounts are similar to those given by at least three women of other attacks that happened between October and December in the same general area, police said.

Authorities were planning to show the previous victims the tape to see if the man in the video is the same man who groped them.

Anyone with information on the attacks should call the Special Victims Unit at 215-685-3251 and if you see the male in question you should call 9-1-1 immediately.
