2 Critically Hurt in Pa. Speedway Crash

Officials say two drivers were hospitalized in critical condition following a three-car crash at a central Pennsylvania racetrack over the weekend.

Selinsgrove Speedway said on its website that Duane Mausteller of Bloomsburg and Jamie Collard of Burford, Ontario were injured in the 10:30 p.m. Saturday crash at the Snyder County track.

A spokeswoman for Geisinger Medical Center in Danville said both remained listed in critical condition Monday.

Officials said the crash happened on the backstretch of the third lap of the 25-lap Empire Super Sprint sanctioned 360 Spring Car race. Also involved but uninjured was Shawn Donath of South Onodaga, New York.

Kathleen Mausteller told The (Sunbury) Daily Item that relatives tried to talk Mausteller out of racing before he was injured last year -- and “His father said this is it, no more racing.”

A post on the speedway's website asked for everyone to keep Mausteller in "their thoughts and prayers."
