South Jersey's NRG Unveils Portable ‘Power Pack' Phone Chargers at Linc

This Eagles season, some fans will no longer need to worry that all those Facebook posts and trash-talking Tweets are draining their smartphone battery while tailgating.

The retail division of Princeton-based NRG Energy Inc. debuted two new NRG Go Power Pack kiosks at Lincoln Financial Field that each hold around 60 of the company's portable charging devices.

Linc's visitors are probably already familiar with the locker-style phone charging kiosks, which consumers can find in retail stores and within the stadium. Though the NRG Go Power Pack kiosk would also draw comparisons to another company's portable charging device available in Philadelphia International Airport and Yondr's lockable phone pockets, which Philadelphians experienced last month when Dave Chappelle came to the Punchline. Each allows customers to keep the device, and their smartphone, with them.

"Hopefully it turns into a Red Box where people just become accustomed to it," said Keri Murschell, NRG's director of innovation.
