Blizzard Claims Pennsylvania Man's Life

Authorities are confirming that the death of a man found in a central Pennsylvania snowbank is related to the weekend storm.

Cumberland County coroner Charles Hall says in a statement Tuesday an autopsy shows 66-year-old Lloyd McCorkel died of hypothermia and heart disease.

McCorkel, of Carlise, was found near a dollar store in Mount Holly Springs at about 9 p.m. Sunday.

Hall says McCorkel was apparently trying to get snow removal equipment when his truck became stuck. He began to walk and suffered a cardiac event, collapsing in the snow.

Over 40 people have died as a result of the mammoth snowstorm that pounded the eastern U.S. The deaths occurred in car accidents, from carbon monoxide poisoning, and from heart attacks while shoveling snow.
