A day of fun in the snow ended in a trip to the hospital for an 11-year-old in New Jersey.
The boy was sledding down a steep slope that ended at a fenced-in retaining wall in Mount Olive Township on Tuesday.
Police Chief Mark Spitzer tells The Daily Record of Parsippany because of his speed, the boy slid under the fence, fell approximately 20 to 25 feet and hit a tree in the town located about 40 miles west of New York City.

“…He was conscious and crying, he was transported to a hospital for an evaluation for head trauma and internal injuries,” Spitzer told the paper. “We are all hoping for the best.”
His name and condition were not released.
Each winter season more than 20,000 kids are hurt in sledding injuries, according to a past analysis of U.S. emergency room visits reported on by NBC News.
