Students Sick on Pot-Laced Food Lead to Dealer: Cops

Arrests made after students become sick from marijuana-laced food, police say

Two people were arrested for allegedly dealing drugs after students at Conestoga High School became sickened from eating marijuana-laced food, according to a press release from Tredyffrin Township Police.

One Conestoga student allegedly purchased weed and cooked it into food and then gave it to classmates who in turn became sick in school on Thursday, police said.

Cops say that the students told investigators that they had purchased the weed from 19-year-old Justin Mendenhall of the 200 block of Edinburgh Road in Exton, Pa. Students also told investigators that Mendenhall had also sold pot to other students in the past, according to police.

Police say they called Mendenhall to set up a marijuana buy at the Daylesford Train Station in Berwyn on Friday night.

According to police, Mendenhall and Katelyn Anne Jennings, 20, of Wayne Pa. met with undercover officers. During the meeting, police say a bag of pot was clearly visible and both Mendenhall and Jennings were arrested.

“The Tredyffrin Township Police Department wishes to send a very strong message to those who sell illegal drugs, especially to our kids…  we have zero tolerance,” said Chief Anthony Giaimo.

Mendenhall and Jennings were arraigned on possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, conspiracy and related charges, according to court records. Mendenhall faces a second drug possession charge as well.

Both suspects are out of jail on $5,000 bail, according to court records.
