Would-Be Robber Shoots Man & His Gatorade Bottle

A robbery near a library left a man shot and a bottle he was carrying has the bullet hole to prove it.

Two men approached the victim in front of the Northeast Regional Library along the 2200 block of Cottman Avenue in Northeast Philadelphia around 5:30 a.m. Monday and demanded money.

According to Philadelphia Police one of the men held a silver revolver.

The 33-year-old victim told the robbers that he had no money so they shot him in the thigh, according to investigators.

The bullet went through a Gatorade bottle the victim had in his pocket and struck him in the upper thigh. Police didn't say if the bottle deflected any of the impact of the shooting.

The victim remained in stable condition at Aria Torresdale Hospital Monday morning.

Police didn’t reveal many details about man’s attackers.
