Caught on Camera: Man Opens Fire on Philadelphia Street

A man walks around, smoking a cigarette, seemingly waiting for something or someone before he pulls out a gun and opens fire along a Philadelphia street.

In surveillance video released by Philadelphia Police Monday, you see the incident play out along the 600 block of W Clearfield Street in North Philadelphia shortly after 1 p.m. Thursday.

In the video you see a man in a blue hooded-jacket pacing up and down the sidewalk, having a smoke and looking around as people walk by for about three minutes. He then stops as two men talk in the middle of the street.

A moment later, as the men walk toward the sidewalk with their backs turned to the gunman, the man in the jacket pulls out his weapon and begins firing as he runs backward down nearby N Marshall Street. As he fires you see people diving for cover.

Luckily, no one was hurt.

A man who was inside the La Dominicana Grocery store on Clearfield Street told police that he heard the gunfire and when he came outside he found bullet holes on both sides of his vehicle.

Police released the video in hopes that someone recognized the shooter. Anyone with information is asked to contact East Detectives at 215-686-3243 or 44 or call 911 if they see the suspect.
