Sheriff Denies Threatening News Blogger With Gun

A western Pennsylvania sheriff has taken the stand to deny threatening a news blogger with a gun while being questioned about whether bidding procedures had been followed in buying deputies' uniforms.

Beaver County Sheriff George David says the blogger, John Paul Vranesevich, wanted David to intercede on behalf of the blogger's domestic partner, a police officer who was in danger of being fired for horsing around with a stun gun on duty.

David denied drawing his weapon, though the blogger says David aimed it at him while threatening him during an April 2012 meeting in the sheriff's office. Prosecutors also contend David threatened two deputies to lie to protect him, including one deputy who already testified that David pulled the weapon, but didn't aim it at the blogger as he claims.

Closing arguments are expected Friday.
