What officials initially believed to be a shark at a Monmouth County beach was actually a sunfish.
Officials alerted residents Sunday that a shark was spotted in the water near the Driftwood Beach Club on the 1400 block of Ocean Avenue in Sea Bright late Sunday afternoon.
Beach and police patrols warned beachgoers to stay out of the water as they investigated. Officials later determined what they believed was a shark was actually only a sunfish however. All alerts and warnings were later canceled.
