SEPTA's Enhanced Saturday Schedule for Disrupted Regional Rail

SEPTA's regional rail schedules change Tuesday, July 5.

Until further notice, during the week (Monday - Friday) SEPTA's Regional Rails will run on a modified Saturday schedule. Each line will have an extra train that will run earlier than the normal Saturday schedule and additional trains will be added to the AM/PM travel periods. SEPTA is asking riders to remember that all their available cars have to be spread out over the entire region "so the extra service will not reflect normal weekday frequency levels."

Saturday schedules will be enhanced on the following lines:

  • Trenton
  • Manayunk/Norristown
  • Media/Elwyn
  • Lansdale/Doylestown
  • West Trenton
  • Chestnut Hill East
  • Wilmington/Newark
  • Paoli/Thorndale

The following lines will operate on the current Saturday schedule with NO ADDITIONAL ENHANCEMENTS OR ADJUSTMENTS:

Airport

Chestnut Hill West

Fox Chase

Warminster

Cynwyd Line will operate Shuttle Buses and will make stops at Cynwyd, Bala, Wynnefield, and 30th Street Stations. At 30th Street customers can connect to the Market Frankford Line or Trolleys for travel to Center City

Regional Rail service will operate on a Saturday schedule with select enhancements but with the absence of the Silverliner V cars from the fleet, all trains will be very crowded. Based on the reduced seating capacity and out of a concern for the safe travel of customers, some trains may not be able to stop to pick up additional riders at some stations. Given these conditions, we are asking customers to consider using SEPTA Transit services as an alternate to Regional Rail.

Travel Tips:

If you can, please consider:

Taking advantage of our expansive Bus, High Speed, and Trolley Transit network

Flexing your work time

Telecommuting if that is an option at your workplace

Our Regional Rail schedules will continue to evolve throughout the summer as Silverliner V cars are returned to service and we can restore lost capacity. We also continue to look at equipment leases or service arrangements with NJ Transit and Amtrak as well as possible SEPTA busing options. We are currently in discussion with both NJ Transit and Amtrak on how they can help our situation.

We ask for your continued patience and understanding. We will continue to develop travel options and alternatives for Regional Rail customers. All updates and service changes will be posted on the SEPTA website www.septa.org and on System Status.
