Police say the fight broke out on the platform of the Spring Garden Station on the Broad Street Line Tuesday afternoon.
Video shows a large group of students fighting each other. At one point a student kicks, stomps and jumps on the head of another student lying on the ground.
Police say they were called to the station after they received a report of the fight. By the time they arrived however the fight was over, according to investigators.
Police have identified two of the victims and some of the suspects. Sources also tell NBC10 they believe some of the victims attend Benjamin Franklin High School.
SEPTA Police Chief Thomas Nestel says officers have increased patrols at several stations and a criminal investigation is underway.
“The message we’re trying to get out is if you’re gonna act up on SEPTA, we’re gonna have a picture of your face and we’re sharing it with the school district and between the two of us we’re gonna address it so that no one gets hurt,” Nestel said.
