2nd Ex-Traffic Judge Sentenced in Ticket-Fixing Case

The second of four former Philadelphia traffic judges convicted of lying to authorities in a sweeping ticket-fixing case has been sentenced to two years in federal prison.

A federal judge sentenced Thomasine Tynes on Thursday, a day after Robert Mulgrew was given 18 months in federal prison on perjury charges.

WHYY-FM reports that a sobbing 71-year-old Tynes told U.S. District Judge Lawrence Stengel that she didn't invent the system at traffic court and that she went along to get along.

Two other convicted former judges haven't been sentenced yet. The four were acquitted of fraud and conspiracy charges.

Tynes' lawyer also has said she'll plead guilty in an unrelated corruption case. She's accused of taking a $2,000 Tiffany bracelet from a lobbyist informant who told Tynes he was seeking a collections contract with the court.
