ScrappleFest in Philly

Scrapple, a regional breakfast treat, is in the spotlight for the Reading Terminal Market's "ScrappleFest."

Visitors were able to sample different variations of scrapple products as they strolled through one of the largest and oldest public markets in America.

Last year, scrapple was named in the Daily Meal's list of "18 American Foods You Have to Travel For."

The breakfast dish consists of scraps of pork and other meat, mixed with cornmeal and fried.

Some area chefs also competed in a Scrapple recipe contest, with dishes like scrapple egg and cheese pretzels, mahi mahi scrapple hush puppies and scrapple panzanella.

In case you missed it, the "ScrappleFest" is held every two years.
