School Bus Crashes in Del.

A school bus and car collided in Bear on Monday morning and sent seven children to the hospital.

Delaware State Police are investigating a three-vehicle crash involving a school bus on U.S. Route 40 in Bear.

Police say the crash happened at the Route 1 southbound on-ramp about 8:15 a.m. Monday. Authorities say a 2000 Toyota Minivan struck a 2007 Saturn in the left turn lane of the highway, pushing the Saturn into the school bus.

Police say seven of the 30 students on the bus were taken to Christiana Hospital as a precaution.

A Colonial School District official says the students were on their way to Wilbur Elementary School at the time of the accident.

The driver of the minivan, 42-year-old Osene Ighodaro of New Castle, was cited with careless driving and operating a vehicle without proof of insurance.
