For the past three days while here in Rome covering the Philly-Vatican sessions on the 2015 World Meeting of Families, we have been passing THIS place! A beautiful, tiny coffee shop that the Italians kept telling us had the "best!" coffee.

So finally, today we ventured in for two reasons. We were in desperate need of a pick-me-up and it was the first time we passed when there wasn't a line of people snaking out the door.

It's been around since 1938 and sits in the shadow of a church that bears the same name and has been around for more than one thousand years. Sant' Eustachio is near two other famous attractions -- the Pantheon and Piazza Navona. The recipe for its legendary coffee is secret.

We ordered a couple of Cappuccinos and an Espresso. You pay at one corner, take two steps across the narrow midway and grab your delight on another counter. No take-outs.

The pastries look pretty scrumptious too!

Tourists can walk away with Sant' Eustachio memorabilia or coffee bean, candy and an assortment of cups. The kind that can make even so-so coffee taste good.
