Woman Freed From Car After Rt. 54 Crash

Crews are on the scene trying to rescue a woman trapped inside a vehicle after a car accident in Buena Vista, New Jersey.

A woman was taken to the hospital after spending nearly two hours trapped inside her car.

It happened on Route 54 and Jackson Road in Buena Vista, New Jersey, around 2:50 p.m. Police say a tan Jeep Liberty driving north veered into the southbound lane and collided with a black Chevy Malibu. The crash caused the jeep to slam into a telephone pole, trapping the three passengers. Two of the passengers, Monet Anthony, 33, and a 4-year-old girl were extracted immediately. The driver of the jeep, Cheryl Anthony, 57, was trapped inside the vehicle with her legs pinned for nearly two hours before crews finally pulled her to safety. All three passengers were taken to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Police also say the driver of the Chevy Malibu, Marian Lemons, 82, was taken to the Regional Medical Center in Vineland for cautionary reasons

Police say a preliminary investigation is leading them to believe driver fatigue may have played a role in the crash. They continue to investigate.
