Christmas Eve Crash Knocks Out Power to Thousands of South Jersey Homes

A one-car crash along a busy holiday shopping corridor knocked out power to the Christmas tree for thousands of residents Thursday night.

The car struck a pole and brought down wires along Route 70 West near Cuthbert Boulevard in Cherry Hill around 5:45 p.m. Police periodically closed lanes both eastbound and westbound as they worked to clear the scene.

More than 2,000 PSE&G customers in Cherry Hill, Haddon Township, Haddonfield and Pennsauken lost power following the crash. Power was restored to mostly everyone before 11 p.m.

No word yet on the extent of injuries and what caused the wreck.
