A woman died from her injuries after a car collided with a big rig along one of South Jersey’s busiest roads Wednesday afternoon, leaving the rear of the tractor-trailer hanging over an overpass and the car wedged under the trailer.
Ashley Zarzycki, 24, of Villas, New Jersey, was a passenger inside a Mazda traveling along Route 42 southbound in Bellmawr, New Jersey around 1 p.m. The driver, a 26-year-old man, struck a Dodge Challenger and then crashed into a tractor trailer, police said.
The crash caused the rear of the trailer to hang over the Timber Creek Overpass near Exit 14.
Zarzycki died from her injuries while the driver of the Mazda suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Neither the driver of the tractor trailer nor the driver of the Dodge Challenger were injured.
Officials are investigating the crash.
