Car Strikes, Badly Injures Pedestrian in South Jersey

A pedestrian suffered severe injuries when authorities in South Jersey say a car struck the person on a stretch of Route 130 in Burlington Township.

Officials confirmed the crash about 6:30 a.m., and said that Route 130 in Burlington was shut down from Columbus Road to Hulme Street, in the area where it occurred.

The pedestrian was taken to Cooper University Hospital, authorities said. The person's immediate condition was not known, but an official said he or she was "not in good shape."

One other person, who may have been the driver of the striking vehicle, was taken from the scene to Lourdes Medical Center for treatment.

The driver did stay at the scene, officials said.

The crash remains under investigation.
