Republican Presidential Battle Comes to Pa.

Santorum & Romney set to square off in the Keystone State

After a Mitt Romney triple win (Wisconsin, Maryland, D.C.) Tuesday, the Republican Presidential front-runner headed for Pennsylvania to try and put away the competition for the GOP nomination.

Standing in Romney’s way is Rick Santorum whose trip to the Keystone State Wednesday is a homecoming for the former Pennsylvania senator.

Battleground Pennsylvania begins for the GOP.

Santorum holds the edge 41 to 35 percent in the April 24 primary among likely Republican voters in the Keystone State, according to the most recent Quinnipiac University poll.

Romney, however, leads the delegate count 573 to 212 for Santorum, 137 for Newt Gingrich and 34 for Ron Paul in the GOP's battle to get the opportunity to face off against President Barack Obama in November's general election.

Romney started the battle for Pennsylvania Wednesday morning with a meet and greet in Harrisburg. Romney planned a tour of an energy company outside Wilkes-Barre Wednesday afternoon before holding a campaign event at a custom staircase shop in Broomall Wednesday night.

Santorum spent the day campaigning in the western and central parts of the state. He started the day by greeting a modest crowd at a Pittsburgh-area diner in Carnegie then held an event in Hollidaysburg before wrapping up the day outside Harrisburg with a bowling in Mechanicsburg.

Paul spent his day campaigning in California while Gingrich was in North Carolina.

With 72 delegates up for grabs, Pennsylvania should see plenty of the candidates in the coming weeks. Delaware could also see a few visits with their 17 delegates also up for grabs on April 24.
