Police are investigating a robbery at a popular Lower Merion Deli.
On Saturday, around 9 p.m., police say three or four men entered Hymie's Deli on Montgomery Avenue and announced a robbery just before closing. The men were armed with handguns and a shotgun with their faces concealed with bandannas, according to investigators.
Police say the men removed an undisclosed amount of cash from the deli and also took personal items from customers and employees who were inside.
Eighteen-year-old Michelle Horev, who worked the register during the robbery, says she dialed 9-1-1.
"I took the phone of the hook and dialed 9-1-1. I wasn't able to stay on the line, so I ran to where everyone else was on the floor because I did not want them to see me behind the register," Horev said. "This is a calm neighborhood, to have a gun that close to my face was just unreal, you know?"
The suspects fled and no one was injured, according to investigators.
Long time customers are on alert but say the weekend's armed robbery will not keep them from dining at the famed restaurant.
"I don't think you can live with being afraid of where you go," Alan Rosenau.
Police are reviewing surveillance video from 20 camera angles from inside the store.
