A woman who took an impromptu photo of a man proposing to a woman in Philly’s Rittenhouse Square is now using social media to try and track the couple down.
Claire Gibson, a dog walker, told NBC10 she was walking her client “Patches,” through Rittenhouse Square around 8 p.m. Sunday when she spotted a couple by the Christmas tree.
“I noticed he was holding a box and she was staring at the ring,” Gibson said. “I realized it was a proposal and I was real excited.”

Gibson took out her phone and snapped a picture of the proposal but wanted to wait a few minutes before approaching the couple. Patches had other plans however.
“Patches had to go home and she had to go potty and get warm again,” Gibson said.
When Gibson returned home and looked at the photo she knew she needed to give it to the couple. She posted the picture on Facebook and is asking the public to help track them down.
“I’m sorry if you were waiting until Christmas to announce this to your family and this bursts the bubble for you guys,” Gibson said. “Hopefully we get in touch and hopefully you guys love the picture.”
Gibson hopes the couple is okay with the publicity and believes any couple would want a photo of their engagement. If you know the couple, be sure to email us at PhillyWebTeam@nbcuni.com.
