Authorities in western Pennsylvania say a suspect was shot and wounded by state troopers after allegedly aiming a rifle at them.
Police in Butler County say they were told that a man had threatened relatives in Butler Township with a rifle and a knife and had fired the weapon into the air or at an unoccupied home.
Officers responding shortly before 5 a.m. Sunday ordered him to drop his carbine-type rifle, but instead he raised the rifle and was aiming toward the troopers from a distance of about 60 yards.
Police said one trooper fired his rifle and a second fired his sidearm, hitting the suspect in the hand or forearm. He fled but was arrested by another trooper and was taken a Pittsburgh hospital with wounds not considered life-threatening.
