Restaurant Worker Shot by El Stop in University City

A man stepped outside a West Philadelphia bar to talk to a woman early Friday morning when a  gunman approached him and opened fire, shooting him in the leg, police said.

The victim was at Natalie's Lounge, located near the corner of 40th and Market streets in the University City section of the city, when he went outside around 12:30 a.m. and was shot by an unknown suspect, authorities said.

At least two shots were fired and the man was struck once in the thigh, investigators said.

The victim -- who is a bartender at Natalie's, but was not working at the time -- was taken to the Hospital of University of Pennsylvania, where he is in stable condition, officials said.

A short time after the shooting occurred, the victim's uncle arrived at Natalie's and began screaming, according to police, who said they had to subdue him.

Investiagators are searching for the suspect.
