Resident Shoots at Home Invader, Uses Suspect's Gun

A Philadelphia homeowner used a suspect's gun to defend himself during a home invasion Thursday afternoon.

Philadelphia Police say two men broke into a home along the 5200 block of Sylvester Street in the Frankford section of the city around 12:30 p.m. as part of a robbery attempt.

The homeowner confronted the men, was able to get a gun from one of the suspects and fire, police said.

The suspects fled the house leaving a trail of blood, according to police.

Police are searching for the suspects.

The homeowner was not hurt and nothing was stolen from his home.

A neighbor said she was shocked by the home invasion.

"I've been here for 13 years and this has never happened around here," the woman said.

Investigators from the Northeast Detective Division are interviewing the homeowner to try and uncover more clues to the case.
