Police say a man has been arrested in the stabbing death of his 70-year-old grandmother in Southwest Philadelphia.
A police spokesman said officers responded to a report of someone screaming just before 6 p.m. Saturday and found the victim face down on the bed in her second-floor bedroom.
She had been stabbed multiple times in the back and had cuts on both arms. She was pronounced dead within a half-hour later.
The woman's grandson was seen leaving the residence, police said. Several hours later, the 29-year-old suspect returned to the home and was taken into custody. He is charged with murder, possessing an instrument of crime and theft. Police have not yet released his identity.
