Recall: Ortega Taco Kits, Spices May Contain Peanuts & Almonds

The makers of Ortega Mexican food products are recalling several taco kits, spices and sauces because they may contain nuts that are not listed on the nutrition label.

B&G Foods issued the voluntary recall on Friday over concerns people with severe allergies to peanuts or almonds could have a life-threatening reaction.

Included in the recall are certain sizes and versions of the following:

  • Ortega Taco Dinner Kit
  • Ortega Taco Seasoning
  • Ortega Taco Sauce
  • Ortega Soft Taco Dinner Kit
  • Ortega Whole Grain Taco Kit
  • Ortega "Tacos for Two" Kit
  • Ortega Green Taco Sauce
  • Ortega Enchilada Sauce
  • Ortega Whole Wheat Soft Taco Kit
  • Ortega Grande Hard & Soft Taco Dinner Kit
  • Ortega Fiesta Flats Kit

Taco sauce and seasonings under the Las Palmas name are also included.

The full list of products, their UPC codes and Best By dates are listed on the FDA's website.

B&G said customers can return the products to the store where they were purchased for a full refund.

Supermarket chain GIANT said Saturday that they have not received any reports of illnesses, but advised customers to throw away any unused product or return it to the store.
