RECALL: Organic Ravioli Product at Giant & Martin’s

Officials at Giant Food Stores and Martin's Food Markets announced a recall of an organic ravioli brand.

The supermarket chains removed the Rising Moon Organic Butternut Squash Ravioli from their shelves, claiming the product may contain milk, egg and soy, allergens that are not listed on the ingredient statement.

The following product is in the recall:

Rising Moon Organic Butternut Squash Ravioli, 8 oz. frozen, UPC 78503055557, with a sell by date of APR 09 2015.

So far Giant has not received any reports of illnesses. However, those who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk may run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the product. The product is still safe to consume for those who don’t suffer from a milk, egg or soy allergy.

Symptoms of food allergies normally appear within minutes to two hours after an allergic person has eaten the food. Those symptoms include hives, flushed skin or rash, a tingling sensation in the mouth, face or tongue, lip swelling, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal cramps, coughing, dizziness, swelling of the throat and vocal cords, difficulty breathing and a loss of consciousness.

Anyone who has purchased the product should throw out any unused portions immediately and bring the receipt to a Giant or Martin's location for a full refund.
