PGW Rates to Rise to Cover $11.4M in Infrastructure Improvements

Philadelphia Gas Works is reportedly upping its rates over the next two years after Pennsylvania regulators approved the increase.

The money collected from the rate hike – 85 cents a month per customer – is to be used to cover the $11.4 million the utility spent on pipeline replacements in 2015, according to the Inquirer.

The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission okayed the increase, saying the need to raise the rates for this purpose was "compelling," according to the report.
