What could have been a nightmare ended up being a dream wedding for a New Jersey couple after stormy weather led to a beautiful rainbow.

Philadelphia-based photographers Ramy and Nancy Gendy were taking photos of Aubrey Donovan and Charlie Collick during their wedding ceremony early Saturday evening at the Royce Brook Golf Club in Hillsborough Township, New Jersey when storms started to pass through.

"We were reading our vows and just saw the faces of everyone as the winds picked up," Collick told NBC10.

Knowing there was about to be a downpour, the couple quickly finished through their vows and kissed. The wedding party then ran for cover inside as heavy rain and lightning hit the area.

After the storm finally passed a little over an hour later, Collick's Best Man asked if he could go back outside to play golf and take a few photos. Collick admits he was dismissive of the idea at first.

"I was like, 'come on man, you want to go golfing on my wedding day?'" Collick said while laughing.

The Best Man's insistence on taking photos ended up being a blessing in disguise however. As people began going outside they saw the light of a beautiful rainbow piercing through the cloudy skies. Gendy seized the opportunity and took photos of the newlyweds with the rainbow in the background.

For Collick, the moment was particularly meaningful. His wedding was on the same day of what would have been his grandparents' 61st wedding anniversary. Collick's grandfather passed away a few years ago.

"I'm not particularly religious but it definitely felt spiritual," Collick told NBC10. "My family said he was shining his light down on us."
