Local Pooch to Participate in the Annual ‘Puppy Bowl'

The Eagles won’t be playing in the big game, but local animal lovers will certainly have something to cheer for come Super Sunday.

Kevin the schnauzer mix pooch will be participating in the annual “Puppy Bowl.”

Kevin was rescued from a rural shelter in West Virginia by the New Life Animal Rescue, based in Marlton, New Jersey.

“One look at his sweet, sad little face and I knew we had to save him! From the moment we picked him up, he stole our hearts,” Kim Mangione, founder and director of New Life Animal Rescue, told NBC10.

Kevin lives with adopted family in Delaware.

Puppy Bowl, which debuted in 2005, airs on the “Animal Planet” channel. It features numerous puppies playing on a miniature football field, complete with a referee. Several years ago, the program added cats to its lineup.

In the early years of the program, the late great Harry Kalas narrated the action.
