Prosecutor Who Rejected Cosby Charges Seeks Return to DA Job

A former prosecutor who decided against charging Bill Cosby in an alleged 2004 sexual encounter says he wants to return to his old job as a suburban Philadelphia district attorney.

Bruce Castor announced his candidacy Wednesday after current Montgomery County DA Risa Vetri Ferman said she's running for judge.

Castor, currently county commissioner, served as DA from 2000 and 2008. He says his most satisfying years in government were as the county's top prosecutor.

The 53-year-old Republican said in November he personally thought Cosby should be arrested, but that evidence wasn't strong enough to prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt.

Castor also says he thought Cosby lied to investigators. Cosby and the woman later settled.

Cosby's denied wrongdoing. He's never been charged in connection with sexual assault allegations.
