Pennsylvania Pet Owner's Drunken Ex-Boyfriend Beats Pregnant Dog: Police

A drunken, recently jailed central Pennsylvania man broke his ex-girlfriend's glass door and viciously kicked her pregnant pit bull, said police.

Robert Schandelmeier faces a preliminary hearing Wednesday on simple assault, cruelty to animals, disorderly conduct and other charges.

He's jailed in lieu of $7,500 bail. Online court records didn't list information on a lawyer to comment on the charges.

The Altoona Mirror reported Schandelmeier was arrested early Saturday after police say he stuck his foot in his ex-girlfriend's storm door, pounded and kicked the glass, threatened the woman and her 14-year-old son and assaulted the dog.
