Person Bit by Raccoon Tests Positive for Rabies, New Jersey County on Alert

A positive rabies test has a Burlington County township on watch for rabid animals in the area.

A raccoon bit a resident of Kings Grant in Evesham Township Tuesday and the resident later tested positive for rabies, the Burlington County Health Department told Evesham Township Police.

Area residents are advised to keep their pet's rabies vaccines up to date and make sure the pet's vaccination certificate is easily accessible.

Residents should avoid direct conflict with wildlife, dead or alive; any animal displaying unusual friendliness or other unnatural behaviors may have rabies, according to Evesham Police.
