Thousands of Portable Toilets Brought in for Pope's Visit to Philly

Several thousand portable toilets are being placed around Philadelphia in advance of Pope Francis’ visit next weekend.

Approximately 3,000 port-a-potties are being brought in to accommodate the plethora of people coming into the city for the World Meeting of Families.

The majority of the portable toilets will be lined along the Ben Franklin Parkway, which is where Pope Francis will celebrate Mass on Sunday, September 27.

Philadelphia Archbishop Charles Chaput told NBC10 that the total cost of the toilets is expected to about $1.2 million.

The toilets will be about one for every 250 people and they will be cleaned several times a day.
