Refused Handshake Leads to Deadly Shooting Outside Pennsylvania Pub: Police

Police say a man fatally shot another outside a Pennsylvania bar after someone refused to shake hands to settle a dispute over a game of pool.

Pittston police say 30-year-old Stephen Spencer was still holding the gun when they arrived outside Saints and Sinners Irish Pub about 1 a.m. Sunday. They say he told them, "Here's the gun, I shot him," referring to 32-year-old Christopher Williams. The Pittston man died a short time later at a hospital.

Police didn't immediately say whether Williams was the man who refused to shake Spencer's hand after two groups of people got into an argument.

Online court records don't list an attorney for Spencer who was in the Luzerne County jail without bond Monday. He faces a preliminary hearing July 19.
