Police: Swarthmore Burglar to Victim: “I'm Robbing You”

Police are searching for a burglar who targeted five homes in a three hour span in a small Delaware County town.

On Tuesday, between 1 a.m. and 4:18 a.m., the suspect broke into and burglarized homes on the 100 block of Guernsey Avenue, the unit block of Woodbrook Avenue, the unit block of College Avenue, the unit block of Benjamin West Avenue and the 200 block of Garrett Avenue in Swarthmore, Pennsylvania.

There were no signs of forced entry at any of the homes leading police to believe the suspect gained access through unsecured doors or windows. The burglar also allegedly broke into cars parked at the homes on Woodbrook and College avenues.

All of the homeowners were inside their houses during the burglaries, according to investigators. One resident told police he spotted the suspect at the back of his home. When he asked the suspect what he was doing, he allegedly told him, “I’m robbing you,” before he fled the scene.

The suspect stole laptop computers, cash, jewelry, gift cards and other personal items during the burglaries, police said. At least one of the stolen laptops is not password protected and contains personal and financial data.

The suspect is described as a man in his 30’s with a slender build standing 5-foot-8. He was last seen wearing a dark knit cap, dark clothes and a backpack.
