Police Shoot, Wound Suspect Outside Social Club

Authorities in eastern Pennsylvania say police shot and wounded a man who was firing a gun outside a social club.

Officers in Berks County were called shortly after 3 a.m. Sunday about a fight and shots fired outside the Puerto Rican Association Club in Reading.

Upon arrival, they reported hearing multiple shots and then saw a man firing. An officer shot at the gunman, who ran north. The officer fired again to try to stop the suspect and pursued him/

Police said the man ran into a driveway and the officer fired again, hitting him. He was arrested and taken to Reading Hospital, where his condition was not immediately available.

No other injuries were reported. Police say they found a semi-automatic pistol and numerous spent cartridge cases along the block.
