A determined burglar spent an hour inside a Southwest Philadelphia mini market trying to use a power tool to steal from an ATM, Philadelphia Police said.
Now, police are asking for the public's help to identify the man, who was unsuccessful in opening the ATM, but still made off with $7,000 in cash and cigarettes.
Police said the burglary happened in the early morning hours of Nov. 15 at Estevez Mini Market, at 54th Street and Grays Avenue. They said the hooded-sweatshirt-wearing bandit got into the store through an air vent and spent about an hour inside attempting to get the ATM open.
Eventually, the man left with thousands of dollars in cash and goods.
Police on Thursday released surveillance video that shows the burglar, a mustached man of about 20 who wore a dark zip-up hooded sweatshirt with white strings, gray pants and black shoes.
