Police Kill Man Suspected in Shooting

Philadelphia police say the man killed during a traffic stop on New Year's Eve was the same man who shot a security guard last month.

According to investigators, officers Adam O'Donnell and Ivan Centeno saw 52-year-old Darryl Moore drive a minivan through a red light at 57th and Spruce Street. The officers turned on their emergency lights, but Moore continued to drive, eventually going the wrong way down a one-way street, said police.

Moore stopped the van and both officers approached him from opposite sides. Police say Moore fired at O'Donnell and shot him in the stomach. O'Donnell was wearing a bulletproof vest.

Both officers returned fire, killing Moore.

Officials say that on Dec. 15, Moore shot a uniformed security guard during a robbery.

Police believe that Moore may have thought he was being chased for the shooting.

The injured officer was treated and released from the University of Pennsylvania Hospital on Saturday.
