Police in New Jersey's capital say two children have been discovered living in a storage unit.
Lt. Mark Kieffer tells The Trenton Times that officers from the Trenton Police Department went to a storage locker in nearby Ewing Thursday after a woman arrested earlier in the day told them her two children were there.
Police discovered the boys, ages 5 and 10 years old, living inside a filthy, narrow, unheated unit at the Extra Space Storage facility in Ewing.
The children were removed by police and the Mercer County Prosecutor's office is investigating.
Police say the boy's mother was arrested earlier Thursday for allegedly slashing the tires on her boyfriend's car.
She told police about her children as part of routine questioning as to whether she had any dependents.
