A state forestry official says a large brush fire in the Pocono mountains of northeastern Pennsylvania that has destroyed nearly a dozen structures could be out in a few days.
Bureau of Forestry spokesman Jim Hyland tells The Morning Call the brush fire that's covered more than 8,000 acres in Monroe and Pike counties is 90 percent contained.
Hyland says at least 165 firefighters are working to contain the fire. One firefighter received a minor injury when Hyland says an ember burned him while he was cutting brush.
Over the weekend, the fire destroyed 11 structures — two leased cabins in the state forest, three seasonal houses and six outbuildings.
Officials say that fire and another blaze were deliberately set. A $5,000 reward is being offered for information.
