Please Vote: Please Touch Children's Museum Calls for Opinions on Mascot Name

Squiggles, Ziggy, Squish, Pip or Curiosity Kid?

That’s the question — in bright purple letters — that Please Touch Museum wants its visitors to answer.

Four months after updating its visual brand, the Fairmount Park children’s museum is taking votes on the name of its new mascot.

Please Touch Museum chose to rebrand in May, but held off on naming its mascot until this fall. The character, inspired by children’s drawings, is a compact figure with enormous eyes and wild hair.

Founded in 1976 by a Montessori educator, Please Touch Museum began as a pilot project in Philadelphia’s Academy of Natural Sciences, "nestled among the dinosaur skeletons and woolly mammoths"

In 1983, it relocated to a three-story building in the heart of Philly’s museum district, and in 2008, it opened the doors of its current location in Memorial Hall.

Web visitors can vote for their favorite name out of the final five through September 25th.

The winner will be announced at Please Touch Museum’s birthday party event October 7th.
