Police say that one person has been taken into custody after police found pipe bombs and other weapons in a Port Richmond home Thursday morning.
Investigators say that around 6:30 a.m. narcotics officers were serving a warrant for a 31-year-old man allegedly growing pot inside a home on the 2600 block of E. Thompson Street when they discovered two pipe bombs and a collection of weapons that NBC10's Tim Furlong said resembled "the kind you see in video games," and included machine guns, rifles and crossbows.
They also found fireworks and powder, materials conducive with bomb-making.
Nearby residents were evacuated and the block was shut down for hours after the bomb squad was called in.
Neighbors in this normally quiet section of Port Richmond say that the suspect always seemed like a nice guy and that they are shocked by the findings.
"...Ya don't know what is living beside ya," one neighbor, who wants to remain anonymous told NBC10.
"Now that my mortgage is paid for, I don't want this place lifting off the ground," another neighbor said.
Police have secured the home and want to assure residents that there is no risk of explosion.
Authorities are working to determine whether the 31-year-old will face state or federal charges.
