Caught on Camera: Man Cases Car Parked in Society Hill, Swipes $3,500 Worth of Items

Philadelphia Police detectives asked for the public's help to identify a theft suspect who struck in Society Hill earlier this month.

Surveillance video captured an unknown male casing a parked vehicle on the 400 block of Lombard Street around 1:30 p.m. on March 13, said police. The suspect walked up and down the street looking both ways to check for witnesses.

A short time later the suspect returned to the car. After an unsuccessful attempt at breaking the passenger side window, the suspect then broke the driver’s side window and removed several items valued at more than $3,000.

The suspect has a medium to stocky build and wore a blue baseball cap with an unknown white logo on the front, a dark-colored jacket, shoulder bag, blue jeans and dark-colored shoes, said investigators.
