Philly Police Commissioner Concerned After 2 NYC Cops Killed

Philadelphia Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey is calling on his officers to be careful and alert following the fatal shooting of two New York City officers and says he's concerned about the current environment for police.

Authorities say the gunman in Brooklyn announced online that he planned to kill officers in retaliation for the police chokehold death of Eric Gardner. The officers killed Saturday were sitting in their patrol car in broad daylight when they were shot.

The Philadelphia Inquirer
reports that Ramsey is urging those leading local protests over the deaths of Gardner and Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, to ``call for calm and not let this escalate any further.''

Local Fraternal Order of Police lodge President John McNesby says the protests give edge to an already dangerous job.
